The Application Of ARM In MPEG-4 Video System

With the rapid development in the area of communication technology and computer technology, digital video plays a more and more important role in information society. At present, MPEG-4 attracts more and more attention for its advanced coding and decoding thoughts, at the same time, in the engineering area, how to put MPEG-4 into practical application is also a challenge task. This paper mainly focuses the application of MPEG-4 on the cellular and low power consuming ARM platform.On the base of understanding MPEG-4 protocol and the architecture of ARM, the author designs and implements the rate control module and testing data source with ARM7. Based on ARM926EJ-S platform, the author implements MPEG-4 SP decoding system and the motion estimation module of MPEG-4 codec chip based on this platform.
