The primary work of this research is establishing software platform for digital control system. Since digital control system in automation industry should meet some special demand, the system needs higher stability, more abundant of algorithm module relating to control fields, better integrity and easier usage. In order to reach the object above, some special organization method and running style should be needed in software platform based on IEC61131-3, such as independence of the platform, software simulation, online downloading, alarming and redundancy.First section of the paper builds bottom system of software platform from the view of controller. For adoption of multi-task kernel of real-time operating system, the controller has powerful real-time schedule ability. Moreover, because the controller software has been divided into 3 layers, those are operating system layer, controller run-time system layer, controller main program layer, the system achieves better platform migration. Second section presents the construction of the programming system based on XML technology and COM technology, realizing 4 languages defined in IEC61131-3, and HMI system. Because of the adoption of distributed technology, the core configuration information can be managed and operated in a unified way by configuration server, also the function of online downloading and cross reference can be realize more easily. Finally, for the purpose that control system can be better used in petrifaction, pharmacy and food industry, this paper builds the batch control system at current software platform based on IEC61131-3 and compatible with IEC61512-01. In the end, the paper discusses the usage scope of IEC61131-3, analyses the defects of the standard, and make prospects of IEC61131-3.
