The monitoring technologies in telecommunication transmission network are discussed from both the fiber automatic monitoring technology and the transmission network supervising technology in this academic dissertation. The present situation and development trend of the monitoring technologies are analyzed. The fundaments, system structure and function framework of the physical and logical layers in transmission network are described in details. Furthermore, the engineering practice and technology innovations in the projects of Neijiang Fiber Testing System Experimental Project and Sichuan Province Transmission Network Management System First Period Project are presented.First, based on the fundaments of RFTS (Remote Fiber Testing System), the optical power spare fiber testing method and GIS fiber resource management technology are introduced into the fiber automatic monitoring system, in order to actualize the remote, real time and on-line monitoring of the system capability, malfunction warning and trouble positioning in the transmission physical fiber layer.Second, the theory and conception of TMN (Telecommunication Management Network) are introduced , the relationship of TMN , transmission network management and transmission resource management is analyzed. In the transmission logical layer, the resource management system is necessary to realize all-in-one monitoring from physical layer to logical layer and for different network management systems. In summary, the practice and technology innovations in above projects provide not only a new train of thoughts but also an operational scheme to realize TMN.
