Integrated with the CAD technology and CSCW technology, the collaborative CAD, which is able to shorten the product development time, make best use of remote resources and reduces the design cost, has made a rapid and further progress in the past decade. The synchronized collaborative design within heterogeneous CAD systems becomes a significant challenge because of the great difference between the modeling operations and underground data structures of different systems. In order to enable it, this thesis mainly researches on the approach to constructing synchronized collaborative design platform within heterogeneous CAD systems.A Neutral Modeling Commands based approach to building up a synchronized collaborative design platform upon heterogeneous CAD systems is proposed according to the extensive requirements of this technology. An object oriented representation of NMC is given and employed to support the translation between System Modeling Operations (SMO) and Neutral Modeling Commands (NMC). Moreover, two kinds of translators, SMO-to-NMC and NMC-to-SMO, are established, which can deal with modification/deletion operations besides common creation operations and composite features and user-defined features. We extend the synchronized collaborative design platform developed by us to a parametric CAD data exchange environment. A web services based parametric CAD data exchange interface is also provided for standardization. Finally, a NMC-based synchronized collaborative design prototype system and a parametric CAD data exchange system are implemented. Meanwhile, a synchronized collaborative design scenario and a CAD data exchange task are performed on these two prototype systems respectively. The validity of NMC-based approach is certified...
