With the rapid development of global manufacturing, co-development under heterogeneous CAD systems has important meanings for cross-boundary product design, as it allows many developers who belong to different companies or departments to carry out the co-development in different locations by using their own skilled digital tools, and plays an important role in improving the capacity and efficiency of enterprises' product development. Because of the differences of CAD systems in model representation and function implementation, constraints in systems exist differences more or less, especially geometric constraints in sketch and assembly constraints. And discrepancies of constrains among CAD systems directly result in difficulties of parameterized model exchange. To address the need for parameterized model exchange, this paper mainly focuses on constraints online exchange among heterogeneous CAD systems.To the discrepancies of constraints among heterogeneous CAD systems, this paper analyses constraint representations in four typical commercial CAD systems, makes comparison between geometry constraints and assembly constraints, then gives the differences.To the online exchange of geometric constraints in sketch, this thesis gives the representation of neutral commands based on former works; introduces the dual exchange method between geometric constraints and neutral commands, which mainly focuses on the discrepancies of constraints; also supports creation, modification and deletion of geometric constraints among heterogeneous CAD systems in real time.As for the online exchange of assembly constraints, this thesis firstly gives the representation of neutral commands, and then gives the dual exchange method between assembly constraints and neutral commands, which mainly focuses on solving the discrepancies of assembly constraints. Meanwhile it can support creation, modification and deletion of assembly constraints among heterogeneous CAD systems in real time, so the consistency of assembly models could be maintained. Finally, this paper implemented one prototyping system for online exchange of geometric constraints and assembly constraints. Case studies show that our method is effective.
