A Workflow Framework Based On J2EE

Workflow management technology is an important computer technology in enterprise process management. As the fast e-business development in internet, traditional workflow management systems(WfMS) can't meet the requirement of modern business process management any more. They don't provide enough support to dynamic and inter-organization business processes because lacking agility and interoperability.Out solutions is to introduce one of the latest technology—Web services to improve WfMS performance. Web services based on the service-oriented architecture framework provide a suitable technical foundation for making business process accessible within enterprises and across enterprise. Published and discovered Web services through standard messages will and dynamic and inter-operational features to WfMS.In this paper, we first introduce workflow and WfMS in Chapter 2. In chapter 3 we introduce web service and give a workflow model based on Web service. In chapter 4, we discuss a software framework for WfMS based on Web service and J2EE, and the advantage of using the framework based on J2EE. In chapter 5, we introduce JBFlow project—a WfMS based on J2EE which we worked on in the past two years, and describe the design of data model in the workflow engine in details.
