The Implementation And Application Of Input Method Server Based On Linux And XIM Protocol

This paper introduces an input method server based on Linux and XIM protocol, Zhhzinput, including both its design plan and its implementation, and describes in details how to implement an input method on Zhhzinput, taking ZHHZ Chinese input method as an instance.This paper first brings forward the background and significance of this subject, followed by the principle of XIM protocol and some associated techniques. Then this paper investigates the functionality of some current XIM server with related techniques, on basis of which the paper determines the design plan of Zhhzinput with its detailed implementation. Finally this paper introduces how to construct an input method program based on Zhhzinput, taking ZHHZ Chinese input method as a sample.Zhhzinput, which combines the virtue of Rfinput and miniChinput, not only plays an important role in the job of Linux localization, but also promotes the development of Chinese input method based on Linux in China. Furthermore, we introduce an idea that a unified input method server can work well on both simple Chinese platforms and traditional Chinese platforms. This is an innovation of our project, and we believe that it must be helpful to those developers who are exploring in this field.
