Chinese input is the most frequently used application in human-computer interaction. Due to so many homophones in Chinese characters, users have to take a lot of time to find the target from a list of candidates. This research detect the relationship between the pattern of Chinese input candidate's interface and the input performance, and provide aid for design of Chinese input candidate's interface. In general, pattern of Chinese input candidate's interface refers to all the designing aspects of Chinese input candidate's interface, including arrangement, number of candidates, color, size, the cueing number present or absent, etc.This research includes five experiments. A self-developed Chinese input simulation programs are adopted in all the experiments except for Experiment Two. The program can record automatically the accuracy and input duration of the participants in different display arrangement of input interface, such as number of candidates, cueing number present or absent, cueing number's digit to the input performance separately. In Experiment Two, eye-tracking technology is adopted to record and compare eye-movement behavior under different arrangement condition.The main conclusions are as following.(1)Pattern of Chinese input candidate's interface does affect the Chinese input performance. Chinese input performance is more efficient in matrix arrangement than in horizontal or vertical. The appropriate candidate's number is six. There is no significant difference in efficiency between with and without cueing numbers, after plenty of exercises.(2)The propositional pattern of the Chinese input candidate's interface is matrix arrangement, with 6 candidates, cueing number present, without extension.(3)Visual search time of matrix arrangement is shorter than the other arrangement significantly. The effect of position descends in matrix arrangement compared to the other two arrangements. Its reaction time for 6-9 position doesn't increase sharply like the other two arrangements.
