The Research Of Evaluating Chinese Character Digital Input Method

Along with the digitalization of all kinds of electronic products, for example the mobile telephones become dramatically popular, Inputting Chinese character into digital products becomes an emergency and the research on digital input method becomes a hot topic. It is very important to set up a scientific evaluating system for Chinese character digital input method not only for evaluating the existed different input methods, but also for guiding the future scientific Chinese character input products. This paper first introduces the status and the trend of the Chinese character digital input method, explains the standard or specifications associated with the Chinese character digital input scheme, then summarizes the encoding principle and the function of the corresponding software of several popular digital input methods. The paper then promotes the opinion of how to design excellent digital input scheme and how to design the input system's function. At the same time, this paper gives a quantitative evaluation to the digital Chinese character input method according to the national standard GB/T 18031 and analyzes the difficulty when the standard is executed, At last it presents some proposals about how to revise and constitute the nation standard about Chinese character digital input method. The methodology and the result that we have researched on the digital input method in this paper are helpful to the inventor and the designer of the input method system, also it can guide the end user of the input method for making choices. It can also be a reference to revision of nation standards and is significant for establishment of a scientific evaluating system for Chinese character input method.
