Research On The Intelligent Chinese Character Input Method Based On Windows Mobile System

With the rapid development of mobile technology, increasing numbers of applications and services have appeared in the market including short messages, internet browsing and many kind of personal information management. The effective Chinese input method is important for the promotion of these kinds of applications in China. This paper presents a research about a Chinese input method based on mobile devices and an implementation of Windows Mobile based Smartphone Chinese input method.In order to implement an input method, we must intercept the key board input and process them whatever way it needs and then send one or more characters to the applications. To do so, certain techniques should be used to convert the keyboard input to Chinese information which can be recognized by Chinese operating systems and the mobile telephone. Chinese Pinyin input method is the primary method of entering Chinese information to the mobile phones, and is a very important content of Chinese information processing. The design approach of Chinese digital keyboard input is discussed first and then the InSun sentence based Chinese Pinyin input method on Windows Mobile system are studied in this paper. The realization of Chinese input method on Windows Mobile system also includes preprocessing of user inpout, the input method user interfaces and techniques regarding Chinese Pinyin-to-Character Conversion.To transform digital keyboard input to Chinese characters, two main steps are involved. One is the transform from digital string to Pinyin string. Another is the transform from Chinese Pinyin string to Chinese characters. In this dissertation, problems related to the analysis of the digital Pinyin, auto segmentation of digital Pinyin and standardization of input are discussed. After analysis and processing of user input, the digital string can be formatted correctly and then be sent to the Pinyin-to-Character conversion engine.The implementation of the InSun input method is based on Microsoft Windows Mobile platform. Windows Mobile operating system uses the Input Method Editor (IME) to provide the ability of converting keyboard inputs to East Asian characters.
