A new military radar was developed and produced domestically, and it was armed our army and traded abroad. Good environmental worthiness is indispensable to its material, electronic parts and assembly units, etc.The present paper focused on the radar's surface protective technics, rubber material, electronic parts and assembly units, including twenty-three kinds,approximated one thousand samples, and researched theirs environmental worthiness in nature environmental testing and laboratory artificial accelerated testing. Based on the radar's usage and storage environment, they had been tested in torrid zone oceanic climate (WanNing environmental test station), subtropical constant damp heat climate (JiangJin environmental test station), and frigid zone cold climate (MoHe environmental test station, especially for molectron samples) to find out the sample's environmental worthiness. The corrosion products were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. The main environmental factors, causing the sample's failure, were found through the analysis result.Based on the testing result and failure analysis, concluded as follows:1. At the aspect of the radar's main protection technicsThe zincification technics and the zincification-spray-plastic technics both had good protective effect on steel, but the zincification-spray-plastic technics was not adaptive for assembly units, which irradiated by strong ultraviolet radiation.The bright chromeplating technics was just adaptive for indoor assembly units' protection and decoration.The electrochemistry oxidation technics was better than the electric oxidation technics for usage and storage in constant damp heat environment.The 823 varnish can't availably protect the aspect of copper wave-guide.The polystyrene epoxy coating technics was not adaptive for the strong ultraviolet radiation environment.The ethylic-propyl rubber's usage life is about six years, and the caoutchouc is about 3.2 years.2.At the aspect of the radar' electronic partsThe electrical plug-in-units had good environmental worthiness in constant damp heat environment. The average failure rate of signal processing molectron BY139 was 10.8%. And the average failure rate of logical controlling molectron PC11 was 2.5%.3. At the aspect of the radar' assembly unitsThe 10-11GHz mixers and the IF I,Q demodulators could satisfy storage and usage for five years, or longer.The micro-bandwidth antennae's surface eroded and brushed off easily.The electronic performance failure of 8μs square-wave generator was mainly because of the electronic part's mechanical failure. It was because of the metal film resistance body's corrosion in oceanic climate, and it was because of molectron-foot's corrosion in industry inland climate.The environment did not effect much on the welded joint of wave-guide for its mechanical and electrical performance.
