With the fast and fierce development of the electronics technique, images monitor and control system as the actual application of digital image processing technique is more and more important. Adoption digital technique (or system) has a lot of superior, but also makes the data capacity great increase. It is very disadvantageous to store and transfer the flood of data, since have no not only the economic performance but also the social performance. Therefore, people are broadly studying the method of data compression. In recent years, processing capacity and speed of electronics device is increased more and more. It makes the digital image technique progress constantly and it is applied widely. This paper discussed the multi-channel video compression system which adopts digital image compression technique. This system is composed of three parts: image grabbing, image compression and image storage. Image is grabbed through the CCD camera which output analog image. It is must be converted to digital image and complete it through TVP5145 from TI. Compression chip is the core of system, which is TMS320VC5510 from TI. It is with responsibility for image compression, video decoder management and compressed data storage. System frame buffer is SDRAM. Its capacity is huge; I/O speed is fast and compatibility is good. IDE hard disks have huge capacity, standard interface, long life and low price. Therefore, the system adopts IDE hard disk. This paper brings forward the compression arithmetic referenced JPEG and experiment environment. It also discussed reference frame combined DCT transform arithmetic , RLC coded arithmetic and Huffman coded arithmetic.
