Agent-Based Data Warehouse Technology

Purpose of data warehouse is setting up an integrative data storage environment. A great deal of data used to decision-making and analysis will be separated from original environment. This can become dispersed and inconsistent operated data into integrated and uniform information. But non-Agent structure data warehouse system has some problems, such as network congestion, difficulty in harmonizing network information and views updating discordantly.Based on the research of Agent characteristic and work principle, my paper suggests an Agent-based data warehouse mocel. In non-Agent structure data warehouse system, my paper adds three multi-Agent systems that are query multi-Agent system, integration multi-Agent system and synchronization update multi-Agent system. Query multi-Agent mostly answers for communication with users, helping users finishing query task and sending back the using case. The main work of integration multi-Agent system is inspecting, transforming and integrating information in information sources, and sends integrated data back and storages in data warehouse. Synchronisation update multi-Agent system answers for make the data in data warehouse and information sources changing in-phase. Agent using its own all kinds of characteristic especially mobile characteristic can finish transform, integration and query effectively. At the same time, this scheme settles some problems existing in non-Agent structure data warehouse system.My paper expatiates the structure and function of each module in Agent-based data warehouse model, applies the model to computer Item Bank System, and builds an open Intelligent Item Bank System. In Intelligent Item Bank System, every Agent acts for a role, such as, teacher Agent, student Agent and decision Agent, and so on. According to the demands of the role, Agent finishes given task. Teacher Agent acts for the teacher role. Its main tas\s are making test paper, examining student' s study and maintaining Item Bank. Student Agent acts for the studentrole. Its main function is joining in an examination, answering for accepting problems and answers. Decision Agent acts fcr the expert role. Its main tasks are organizing test paper according to the organizing test paper algorithm supported by teacher Agent, and sending the final test paper to teacher. My paper analyzes each Agent role in Intelligent Item flank system, and gives the workflow according to their tasks needing to finish.At last, according to the analysis of my system, my paper points to the problems existing in the system and the place needing to improve and mend in the next work.
