Hospital Resource Planning is to utilize such modernized means as technology of the computer, network communication etc. to manage the stream of people, logistics, wealth of the hospital synthetically, to gather , store , deal the datum which is produced in the process of the medical treatment, thus offer global operation of the hospital the comprehensive and automatic management. HRP is indispensable infrastructure and environment in the construction of modernized hospital. The daily routine of the hospital includes the management of hospital materials, as there are a variety of hospital materials which circulate frequently, information is often inaccurate and resources is often not clear, so that cause overstock and waste. As important part and parcel of HRP, the hospital material information system contributes to the hospital' s strengthening check and economizing cost.In order to meet HRP's needs to integrate with the systems which already had existed and to develop it the second time, three-layer architecture based on CORBA was adopted. CORBA' s properties of cross-language and cross-platform could meet such needs. Rational Rose 2002 which supports UML to carry on system analysis and design was also adopted. UML and CORBA play important roles in the area of OOA , OOD and the area of distributed object computing respectively, The coalition of UML and CORBA contributes to the combination of different modeling technologies, different implementation technologies and different phases. This combination is very useful to design and to realize distributed object system.In this thesis, first, the essence, system of CORBA and the basic conception of UML is introduced , besides, the possibility of using UML to model the CORBA system is demonstrated and a process of developing distributed application which integrates the UML and CORBAtechnologies is put forward. Second, this thesis enunciates the requirement of hospital material's management from such aspects as applying for requisition, applying for stocking, material contract, material storage, material account operation and describes in detail the whole process from analysis to design and give the database structure of the hospital material information system. Finally this thesis describes how to realize the system with C++ Builder.
