It can inquire the timber amount in or out inventory during certain period, and print out inquiring result by the form of report form. It also can statistic the amount in or out inventory of different kind of timber and show the result by form of chart. The manager can easily find the need of which kind of timber is increasing and which kind of timber' s storage is insufficiency, so the manager can arrange production and forecast market demand. According to sale statistic chart, manager can know the total sale number and amount of timber to each clients and get in touch with them, acquire information from their order, then arrange production. Inventory management is not an isolated process. To function well, it should set close relationship with other enterprise such as suppliers and clients. On the basis of managing the basic information of timber storage, this management system tries to combine with other departments which are also part of timber producing and flowing process, and tries to change timber yard' s management method from pulling type (sale scale determines production scale) to hauling type (production scale determines sale scale). In current competition of market , clients have been one key factor .how to make the clients be the center , and improve the degree of satisfaction ,and occupy the market is a question that an enterprise need to think about. For the future of timber yard, manager should use new managing theory to manage enterprise.By consulting to the successful experience of other management system and analyzing timber yard's practical business, we set the design idea and run flow of this inventory management system; we use VB language to develop Access data base, and compile a series of managing modules, including in inventory, out inventory, inquire, statistic, report form and set module.
