The work presented in this dissertation is part of preliminary research activities on network architectures for military Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), carried out at the SC-Netcom Lab (Sichuan Network Communication key Laboratory). UAV networks are typical ad hoc network, whose fast moving nodes (UAV) have imposed difficulties on routing protocols. This dissertation is dedicated to multicasting routing technique in ad hoc networks, more specifically the Multicast Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (MAODV) protocol.Wireless ad hoc networks are typically characterized by its self-organization capability and coordinate feature among nodes in applications. In contrast to those multicast routing protocol used in wired networks, wireless multicast routing protocol has to deal with serious channel instability problem, consequently various routing protocols for ad hoc networks have been proposed.MAODV protocol is in the stage of Draft proposal in IETF standardization process and a candidate for RFC (Request For Comment). In the author's work, the Network Simulator (NS) is deliberately chosen as the tool to simulate MAODV protocol in different working conditions. The simulation result has shown that the multicast is essential in improving the performance in an ad hoc network where coordination is necessary. The author's main contributions in simulating the MAODV protocol can be summarized as three improvements to MAODV as follows:A. In MAODV draft proposal, the parameter set
