Campus Network Traffic Measure And Analysis

With the rapid development of networks and communications technology, many different resolutions are proposed. And we can implement campus network in different ways. Researches on the characteristics of the traffic on these networks are very significant to the improvement of network speed and the elimination of bottle-necks. They are the foundation of network design and refinement. And they are very important components of network management.First, this essay analyses different types of network traffic on today's campuses. It introduces and compares different methods in measuring traffic and points out the necessity of measuring network traffic. Second, the essay discusses the SNMP protocol as well as related technologies and standards used in measuring traffic. Third, this essay adopts the idea of hierarchical architecture to implement a web-based network traffic measuring system. This system uses SNMP to collect data and analyze MH3 data .It establishes the traffic information database, and implements all high-level applications according to the analysis of the data in the database. So that it can provide more efficient network management as well as better flexibility and scalabity. Finally, the essay tries some theorical analysis on the network. One hand, it simulates network traffic with the help of OPNET tools; On the other hand, the essay using the collected data create an example model of campus network forecast traffic and analyze it. In this way, it provides a reference for the running of network.
