USB is used as the new-type interface technology in the field of PC. For the moment, it has already been popularized in various kinds of computers, and becomes the standard interface of the peripheral device of the computers.Data is always transmitted to the computers and processed in them when it is gathered in the fields of industrial control. The traditional ISA bus transmits the data slowly, and not holds out inserting and pulling out heatedly, so it is abandoned gradually. Though PCI bus transmits the data quickly, it is developed complexly, and needs more manpower and material resources. Its period of development is too long.Compared with them, USB is used widely in each field because of its many merits, such as transmitting at a high speed, plug-and-play, and when developed, it costs less manpower and material resources. At the same time, the application of the micro-controller is very general in the fields of industrial control. The combination of the two facets is suitably used to the on-the-spot application of data collecting.The main content of this paper is to make us familiar with Universal Serial Bus, and present a method of utilizing USB to develop a kind of high speed and reliable data collecting system .. the leather measuring system.The first part of this paper deals with the core content of Universal Serial Bus 1.1 in detail and provides fundamental knowledge of USB controllers and interface chips then chooses the suitable devices. The second part of this paper mainly analyzes the data collecting system. The last part of this paper describes the implement of engineering in hardware, software and host program.The data collecting system of adopting the transmission USB conquers some disadvantages, such as low speed, complexity of installation and so on, provides a new simple and shortcut pattern for developing the data collecting system.
