The TV tower of Tianjin was established in 1991. By transmitting the TV signal and Frequency Modulation radio signal, it makes citizen in and around Tianjin enjoys their daily TV and radio program. Up until now, there are five sets of TV and seven Frequency Modulation radio transmitters working on it. For the purpose of broadcast automation, higher level of reliability and security, and lower the intensity of labor, we, cooperated with the administration of the tower, succeed in developing the transmitter monitor and control system of the tower. This system is developed by phases. The monitor and control of the TV transmitters (10 transmitters for 5 TV channels) was done in the first phase and Frequency Modulation radio transmitters (6 transmitters for 3 channels) in the second one. Now we are working on the third phase, i.e. to monitor and control the other eight Frequency Modulation radio transmitters for the other four radio channels.This monitor and control system adopts hierarchical structure.The upper stage machines, which are composed of monitor machine, server and administrative machine, reside in the same level with LAN. The monitor and control machine is in change of monitor and control of the two systems, which is TV and Radio transmitters separately, through lower stage machines. The monitor and control actions include switching on and off the transmitters, switching between working and backup transmitters, adjusting of antennae and monitoring of status of the transmitters etc. Besides, the monitor and control machine put the data, gathered from lower stage machines, to the server to make it shareable to the other upper stage machines. The administrative machine takes the responsibility to process these data to satisfy the variable demand, e.g. Statistics reports. The server responses to remote access, so that users could be able to know the real time status of the transmitters as well as the historical records.The lower stage machines are of industrial architecture. They get data directly from the transmitters, upload them to the upper stage machines and execute the instruction delivered to them.Each machine runs its own software, which is MyTianTa.exe on monitor and control machine, GTTCtrl.exe on machine controlling of Radio transmitters and XROM29Mi.ASM on machine controlling of TV transmitters.The first two phases of this project has been finished for more than one year. It runs normal and reliable.This project was appraised by experts invited by Tianjin Science and Technology Committee on 4th September 2001. The conclusion is international advanced.This paper made detailed description to the project technically.
