The two dimensional photo-electric automatic detector that the paper studied is a automatic inspecting system that can be used for measuring the radial and axial sizes and the form of solid of revolution, and there are practical applications in many aspects. The paper has introduced the theory of measurement and whole constitute of the system including laser scan inspection system and grating displacement closed loop inspection system.The design of inspection system adopts the technology of single clip microcomputer that is already mature at present,and it can communicate with master computer real-time.The system has some merits such as maturity function,high precision,high efficiency and so on.The system's software is programmed by LabVIEW which has graphic programming environment, and the system have good man-machine interface, easy operation. Operator can control system through the interactive graphic front panel and the inspecting results can be displayed on it. The testing system's function is flexibly defined to meet user's requirement easily because it is based on computer.
