The emergence of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology meets the demand of multimedia applications and high speed wireless access. Researches indicate that the MIMO can improve the performance of wireless system prominently, such as system capacity, data rate, and frequency efficiency.To develop a MIMO system, exact channel estimation is necessary. MIMO channel estimation approaches are more complex than SISO channel, this leads to the complexity of the receiver.MIMO channel estimation algorithm in flat and frequency-selective fading wireless environment are investigated in this work.Chapter 1 overviews the MIMO system, and narrate the architecture of this work.Chapter 2 analyses the wireless channel, and expounds the MIMO channel characteristic, and then models the MIMO channel.Chapter 3 introduces the principle of channel estimation, improves and simulates our schemes, and compares their performance.Chapter 4 discusses MIMO channel estimation in frequency-selective fading, and investigates the design of training sequence.Methods investigated in this work can exploit the capacity potential of the wireless channel.
