Less measurement points and burdensome operation make most of strain measurement instruments unfit for automatic measurement. The thesis introduces Controller Area Network bus into strain measurement, founds strain measurement system based on CAN bus. In thesis, the hardware frame of gateway based on 16-bit micro controller unit is finished. The core of software is real time and multitasking. The thesis finished a sample instrument used in measurement node. It is based on 8-bit micro controller unit and has smart functions including auto calibration, auto scale change and auto balance of Whetstone Bridge. The data can be processed, stored, transferred and displayed in the sample device. The circuit diagram and programme are also included in thesis.Experiment proves that the strain measurement system based on CAN bus has high accuracy, high speed, and is fit for automation. The applied value of the system is obvious.
