This article introduced the application of expert predictive control technology in the EVA foam machine.According to the characteristic of multi-objects and big perturbation in the practical system,the forward feed expert GPC-PID control strategy is proposed .This paper has explained the main reasons of adopting this kind of control strategy and testified its feasibility theoretically.The correctness of this control strategy in practice has also been proven.The main work and the achievement of the paper include the following aspects:1. A survey of automatic control theory is summarized.The development and the present situation of the expert system in the advanced process control technology is emphasized,as well as the predictive control technology.2. The basic principles of the expert system and the expert control system are introduced ,the process of constructing a typical expert system is clarified with concrete example.3. The basic principle of predictive control technology is introduced . The methods of MAC (model algorithm control) and GPC (generalized forecast control) are emphasized and their specialities and deficiencies are analysed. At the end of this paper a MATLAB simulation program of GPC is given.4. According to the special characteristic of the question for study,the method of GPC-PID cascade control is discussed,and a simulation experiment is made to show its superiority comparing with conventional PID control.5. Based on the GPC-PID cascade control strategy ,a forward feed expert GPC-PID selective control strategy is proposed and its simulation experiment is given.The necessity and the feasibility of this strategy under the big perturbation condition have been proven and its superiority has been demostrated comparing with GPC-PID cascade control.6. The object characteristic and technical process of the EVA foam machine are introduced. The forward feed expert GPC-PID control strategy has been put into practice and an ideal result is obtained.
