Visualization in Scientific Computing (VISC) is derived from graphics fields at the early of 1990s. This new subject has been paid more attention to in computer domain along. Via computer graphics and image techniques, it transforms data produced by scientific computing into geometric or images so that they can be displayed on screens and be manipulated interactively. VISC includes many contents. The key point of VISC is the visualization of 3D data sets.In the research of the subject, two neighboring contour lines are located in the two parallel planes respectively are assumed, which is accordant to many actual instances. It is called the reconstruction of single contour lines if there is only a single contour line in each plane. This problem is simple relatively. It is called the reconstruction of multi-contour lines if there are many contour lines in one of planes. The latter one is more complex than the former one because of the problems of corresponding and embranchment between two contour lines. In recent years, many methods to solve the problem of reconstruction 3Dobjects have been put forward to by many scholars, such as "Simulatedannealing algorithms", " Genetic algorithms ", "Delaunary triangulation" and"Deformable model" . Each of the methods has its own characters andadvantage. All the methods are based on the proper data modeling.A new solution to the problem of the reconstruction of single contour lines has been presented in the paper. Basing on the solution, the construction of two peaks of 3D structure by 2D contour lines has been discussed and a new arithmetic to solve the 3D structure of multi-contour lines has been given, which can settle the problem preferably. The implementation has been carried out by using VC++6.0 and OpenGL and an ideal result has been achieved. The following chapters are arranged as follows:Chapter 1 - the concept, basic flow and trend of VISC have been introduced. Chapter 2 - the methods of data modeling, the important principle of triangulation and the known construction methods of 3D structure have been discussed.Chapter 3 - the method of picking iso-lines and the new arithmetic have been introduced, which is the core of the paper.Chapter 4 - the implementation of the project and an evaluation of the result have been presented. The validity and practicability of the above methods have been proved and the potential of the methods has been showed as well.
