Based on deep studying of the software programming and hardware debugging about the virtual instruments and the wide understanding of the acquired technical methods and mature theory about the spontaneous combustion prediction, according to actual situation of the mine coal safety, a kind of monitor and prediction system based- on the virtual instrument is devised in this paper. It can realize the real-time monitor and prediction of the spontaneous combustion date in the coal mine.The design is divided into two parts: software and hardware in the paper. The hardware design uses the PXI platform. The PXI platform is made of PXI-1000B chassis, 8174 zero-channel controller and data acquisition card PXI-6025E. The sensors in the front terminals, including the temperature sensor, wind sensor, oxygen sensor, carbon monoxide sensor, link the PXI controller through the SCXI. All of the above parts form a full virtual instrument platform.The software design chooses the Labview language. Labview is a kind of language using the data-flow technique. The software uses the modular design. The all four modules are: the spontaneous combustion real-time prediction module, the prediction of middle and long-term spontaneous combustion date, network function module, data saving and history inquiring. The whole system is not only the instrument, but also has the integrated function through the design of the software and hardware.The monitor and prediction platform show the flexible and easy-configuration characters of the virtual instrument, and it can save a lot of hardware investigation. In future, its functions can be modified and extended conveniently according to the practical needs. The virtual instrument technique has the wide application foreground in the coalmine safety.
