With further development of land use system reform of our country, rural land market gradually grows up. The current situation of arable land expropriation, transfer, exchange and protection, the Land Management Department is urged to classify the arable land. However, there exist the problems of various data sources, complex calculation and big computation task in the work of arable land classification. So, if the classification is handled manually, not only workload is big, efficiency is low, but also period is long. Therefore there is an actual need to develop arable land classification information system. On the base of systematic research of GIS component technology, the author develops an arable land classification information system using the MapX component technology.Firstly, the article discusses basic theories and technical route . Furthermore the author establishes mathematic models of frequency histogram method ,fuzzy classification method , fuzzy Synthesized evaluation method and grey classification method on the base of former researches.Secondly, the article analyses the related knowledge of GIS component technology, which includes the progress of GIS, component object model(COM),distributed component model(DCOM), the ComGIS product MapX and hierarchical models of MapX. Further_ more, it makes a selective analysis on the main objects and objects collections of MapX .Thirdly, the paper introduces the emphasis of the paper, namely the development of arable land classification information system .This section introduces explicitly demand analysis, data flow analysis, database design, general design, interface design, detailed design and integrated coding using general developing language Visual Basic and ComGIS MapX.Lastly, taking JinLang Town TaiChang City as an example, verify the system using frequency histogram method and grey cluster classification method .The case shows that the system runs correctly and can complete various tasks in the accord with the commands users give.
