Study Of Application Of Component Technology In Commercial DSS

Decision Support System (DSS) is the latest development of management information system (MIS) and boasts increasingly great potentials. DSS can provide management personnel and decision-makers with processed information, helping them make major decisions with more feasibility.As an effort to improve the efficiency or ability of decision-making and to survive and thrive in intense competitions, many enterprises have put considerable time and energy into DSS development. However, the existent problems plaguing DSS have proved to be an obstacle to the development and implementation of DSS. The current methods for developing DSS are not able to meet the demands proposed by the rapidly developing economy and technology. Therefore, a new and more effective method is in need for designing and developing DSS.Based on in-depth study of the existent problems in DSS and COM component technology, and through comparison of DSS model and structure-level components, this current thesis identifies the shared characteristics between DSS model and component objects, proves the feasibility of application of component technology to the design and implementation of DSS model. This thesis proposes a design plan for DSS model based on COM that will effectively solve many of the problems in developing DSS. This design plan takes into consideration reusability, expandability and distributive applicability, which ensures its feasibility as developmental plan.In order to efficiently construct DSS with COM components so as to ensure the wide use of COM-based DSS design plan, this thesis realizes linear-structured model c omponent, o n t he b asis of which a pIan is presented for constructing a third-party DSS model component base. The construction of the third-party DSS model component base increases the reusability of the model, eliminating repeated development of the model and reducing the waste of resources. This component base provides a line of thought for the specialization, industrializationand commercialization of DSS model development that is conducive to further development of DSS by improving the efficiency of industrialized production of software.Finally, this thesis constructs a COM-based commercial DSS, based on analysis of business activities of commercial enterprises that center on the three stages of procurement, sale and stock. In constructing such a DSS, a corresponding decision-making model is built and the third-party DSS model component base proposed earlier in the thesis is employed.
