| Trunking system is one kind of the advanced mobile dispatcher communication system. It represents the technical roadmap of dedicated mobile communication network. After implementing digital signaling system into analogue trunking system, we get these improvements: more reliable connection between users, higher speed of connection, and more functions in trunking system. MDC1200 signaling system is one kind of this signaling, which is developed by MOTOROLA for improving the performance of its analogue trunking system.With the maturation of trunking system market and its technology, the original functions of MDC1200 signaling system can't match the end users' requirements now. However, re-developing a whole new signaling system will cause long cycle time and high cost. By virtue of this reason, this dissertation adopts a new method to improve MDC1200 signaling system. It is that designing an additional signaling data packet to implement these new functions. And Implementing this design should modify the encoding, decoding, modulation, demodulation and ergo subsystems in the original radio software. This paper is arranged as follows. First, it introduces the corresponding knowledge,technical roadmap of trunking system, and digital trunking system signaling. Second, it presents the encoding, decoding, modulation, demodulation parts and several signaling functions of MDC1200 signaling system. In addition, it analyzes some signaling data packet formats. Third, it describes the reason of improvement, the method of improvement, the format of the new additional signaling data packet and these new functions from end users in detail. Then, analyzing the past radio software architecture for implementation MDC1200 signaling system. And mostly focusing on expatiating how to modify the radio software in order to support the new additional signaling data packet and corresponding functions. At last, summarizing the design and the implementation in this dissertation.
