The Study Of Compression Technology Of Multimedia Information And The Design And Realization Of The System Of MPEG-2 Decoder

How to store and transmit huge multimedia data is the main concern in the area of computer network and telecommunication technologies. One of the efficient ways is data compression.This article gives an overview of the necessity and feasibility in the compression of multimedia information, the actuality of research both home and abroad and its development trend. Then, the basic technology in the compression of multimedia information is introduced. And the basic theory on the data compression is described in the article, such as statistical coding, predictive coding, transform coding, analysis-synthesize coding, and so on. The existent international standards in the compression of audio and video are also presented.The system in transmission based on MPEG-2 is developed upon the demands in use. The article introduces the main chip and its periphery circuits, then describes the process of all designs. To expand the functions of the system, some softwares are written. At the end of this part, the advantage of the system is described from structure, economy and performance.Based on the development of compression of multimedia information, the article studies the standard of MPEG-4 for its background, basic structure, main content, function and application. Then, after analysing the difficulties of transmitting video on network, the article puts forward the scheme ofcoding which adapts to transmit video on network.Summarise and expectation are described at the end of the article.
