The tipper is a high efficiency and low-consumption equipment, which is used to turn over and unload the bulk freight such as coal. Now, it has already widely used in the ports, fire power plants, steel factories, and other aspects. With the improvement of the tipper automation and the fitting of the train's rotary hooks, it comes forth the tippers, which can turn over and unload freight efficiently. If the adjacent carriages link up with the immobile hook, it will do harm to the tipper and the hook. But the current method is manual, which restricts the efficiency of the tipper.The thesis adopts the technology of photoelectric inspection, EDA, communication, computer, to design a set of auto-inspection equipment and the computer software, which can complete the inspection of the coal train's linking in course of the locomotion of the tipper.The thesis has two main parts. The first is the hardware design, which mainly uses the method of CPLD and VHDL, design a circuitry with the trim, inspection, control, asynchronous serial communication, at last with RS-485 difference transmittal mode outputs the inspection results to the PC's RS-232. The second is the software, which based on the VB6.0, communicates with the hardware circuitry by the MSComm ActiveX, completes the save, view and others of the inspection data with the Access database, designs a high precision clock, at last, analyses the inspection data to find the best project and transmit the result to the tipper's control room by HTTP.The experiment proofed that the hardware part of the inspection works well and inspects exactly, and the software can receive, save, view, dispose the inspection data rightly, and confirm the best project. In a word, the system can accomplish the inspection of the links of coal trains.
