From the point of view of key element and function of the GIS, this thesis analyses its development trend, thinks that the further application of GIS, the information data uses and the development of the relevant field would promote the development process of the GIS. With the development of the application, the functions should be more effective and strong, such as data gathering, upgrading, integrating, managing, analysing, searching, user's interface etc. in order to meet the actual demands, it should resolve a lot of academic and technological problem .including the break-through of the basic theory of space data model, perfection of space statistical analysis, etc., fine data model, the accurate space data and expression of the multidimensional data, etc., there are all the researching and developing direction of the GIS.Through the analysis to the vector data structure and grid data of GIS , the thesis describes data structure which vector and grid integration suited to oil field , gives an algorithm based on data structure of vector and grid, and analyses three main factors that influences of the quality of the data, puts forward the corresponding solution. Through the study of metadata theory, the thesis analyses data characteristic of oil field, based on these characteristics, proposes the metadata standard which adapted to the oilfield. According to the standard, metadata is divided to three layers such as metadata subclass, metadata entity and metadata element, proposes the target system of GIS metadata, establishes the standard of metadata and implement mechanism. Through the research to the space data and attribute data of space database, the thesis puts forward the logical design and physical design of oilfield's space database. Logical design includes the design of picture block and theorganization of picture layer information. The organization manner of physical design adopts hierachical model, the crunode is note type, there have certain hypotaxis relation between crunodes. In term of seriation from up to down and left to right arranges the notes of hierachical model, there will have a note serial. It can implement the hierachical model from hierachical order and path looking up. Through the study to basic theory of three layers which includes in space data model such as concept data model, logical data model and physical data model, the thesis brings forward the design of concept data model, logical data model and physical data model which adapted oilfield, the thesis puts forward the whole structure project of space data model, and overcomes the space data's problem that couldn't be linked up and applied well.The constitution of oil field ground extraction project GIS would make a leap of essence in the aspects of design measure and work efficiency. Enable designer gets rid of the current situation that calculate by hand with color pen and big drawing, shorten and plan work period greatly, improve the accuracy, scientific of the layout projects further.
