The fast development of internet and software techniques bring us a new wave of technology revolution. It is very important and necessary to apply those advanced software technology to the practices, otherwise we will be eliminated from the market, especially in the special software. Techniques and its applications have far behind others in our nation and the market is primarily hold by those big oversea companies. Such as APC(advanced process control) software, there are several limitations in existing APC software products as follows:(1) poor function and low integration;(2) appropriative driver with poor openability;(3) inflexible structure with poor adaptability;(4) low reusability and poor stability.The right way is utilizing the key software technology to design APC software and this will bring us the chance to break the monopolization. Thus this paper mainly studies the design the APC software and image processing based on distributed component object model technique.The research works can be summarized as follows:1) The history of distributed component technique, the COM/DCOM specification and its applications in the industrial automation have been dissertated in detail. Then, the well-known realization of applying COM/DCOM in industry automation, e.g. OPC, has been discussed about its basic principle, special background, application framework and its application in industry automation. In conclusion, the method of using COM/DCOM/OPC to design APC software has been brought forward,2) An advanced process control software has been developed based on COM technique. This software has good openability, flexibility, reliability, high maintainability and it can improve the disadvantages of traditional APC software. Atsame time, It has been successfully applied in laboratory object.3) The disposal criterions of morphology technique and its applications in the image processing have been dissertated in detail. Then, the way of image process by morphological operators has been designed by COM technique. At the same time, based on weld pool image characters, a method for image processing is presented, in which gray-scale morphological operators is used to process weld pool images. By this method, the important geometrical parameters of weld pool are measured. These parameters are important for real time control of welding, especially for improving weld quality.Finally, on the basis of the summarization of the research work in this dissertation, the further development about distributed software technology is discussed.
