Active magnet bearing (AMB),which has many advantages of no touch, no fray, and dispense with lubricate to the traditional bearing, has been attracting great attention. It is one of typical mechatronic products and a new type-high performance bearing piece. With the technology of AMB known and mastered gradually, magnet suspension bearing will be applied to many fields widely, such as high precise spindle for machine tools, vacuum, satellite position system and etc. But, by now a set of theory and designing method is in a need, because the technology of AMB is one of advanced technology ,which come down to many science fields such as Electromagnetic, Control Theory, Mechanics, Rotor Dynamics and Computer Science and so on.AMB can work well only in the help of control system. So control technology is of importance. The performance of controller affects the dynamic performance of AMB system and the control precision of the rotor ,which is very important to the application of AMB.This paper studies and develops AMB's controlling system for machine tools, applying Electromagnetic theory and taking mechanical bearings as the research object. It also studies control algorithms of AMB's controlling system. Research achievement is as below:This paper establishes the constituting block diagram of AMB system., and introduces the function and relationship of the system's constituting parts. It also addresses requisition of each part.Applying Electromagnetic theory and taking AMB's structure model as research objects, it deduces the formula of electromagnetic force, and deduces further single-axis and five-axis mathematic model.According to the established AMB's controlling model and explicit requisition of controlling system, this paper has presented distributed hardware designing plan, which is suitable for AMB system, and also implemented the rational design of hardware circuit with DSP chip.We have presented the designing desire of AMB's power amplifier, and developed AMB's pulse width modulation(PWM) power amplifier.According to AMB's feature and designing desire, we have proposed control algorithms that suitable for AMB system. Based on AMB's single-axis model, we hasdeduced AMB's PID algorithm, and improved this algorithm according to the concrete desire, presented AMD biotic intelligence control algorithms, at last we have implemented both algorithms in software.
