The application of CAD changed radically the contents and methods of design and manufacturing. It became a tool of developed countries to keep ahead in the field of manufacturing. From lately 1990s' to early this century, Digital Manufacturing took extensively attention as a new fabricant idea, because it is the core of all manufacturing technologies and platform of other advanced manufacturing technologies, such as Electronic Business Manufacturing, Rapid Manufacturing, Internet-based Manufacturing. It is the front in the filed of mechanical engineering.With the development of sciences, enterprises have to change their manufacturing modes. They have to convey manufacturing information via Internet in order to keep up with the development of the society. It is an urgence to build Internet environment in engineering to provide effective manufacturing information. The development and maturation of computer and communication give the technology base to the need and make it possible.In this paper, in the term of the characters of auto-inner ornament, both the Visual Reality environment and Interactive Design System of auto-inner ornament are discussed. At the same time, the author studies thoroughly and systematically the key techniques and puts forward some new ideas:1. On the base of analyzing the advantage and disadvantage of Interactive Design technology via Internet, considering the feature of the material object: auto-inner ornament, the author puts forward the Visual Reality environment and Interactive Design system based on Client/Browser.2. Study the communication problem in network-based design. Put forward a solution to this problem.3. With CAD and the understanding on Digital Manufacturing, apply theconcept of digitalization to engineering and develop, a material digital product: auto-inner ornament.4. With Oriented Object Rapid Develop Tool C++BuiIder 5.0 and relation database management system MS SQL server 7.0 and Visual Reality Manufacturing Language, Database, OLE, ASP and so on, develop the auto-inner Visual Reality environment and Interactive Design system.
