Digital image processing as a new subject has succeed and played a more and more important role in fields such as satellite remote sensing, military reconnaissance, biomedicine engineering and etc. Kinds of imaging techniques such as ultrasonic imaging, rays CT, Compton scatter imaging, are applied to field of NDT. These applications greatly improve the reliability and gemetric of NDT techniques, and take NDT to the direction of intelligence.This paper mainly research methods and technological problems that discern of drawing and recognizing fault from picture of ray-defect film with computer. The core of the technology is defecting the fault in steel welding seam x-ray defect image through techniques like segmentation, strengthening and recognizing, quantitatively calculation the fault, so that the fault in welding seam is graded. In this technology, we draw the welding seam in the picture first , strengthen the welding seam , draw and appear defect of welding seam and at last carry on the defect to grade according to the result of quantitative calculation to defect. On the concrete treatment method, we improve some treatment methods accorded with the real demand.
