| The research of Redactology has been developed for more than twenty years and a great many of fruits has been acquired. Meanwhile, the study of ancient Chinese editors' living condition is almost blank. The paper, from two visual angles of history and theory, attempts to give ancient Chinese editors'living condition a comprehensive survey and present some inspiration to contemporary editorial activities. The whole paper consists of two parts: the study of ancient Chinese editor' s living condition and the theoretical analyses for some key problems.Part One: 1. The paper holds that the primitive editorial activities come into being in Shang Dynasty. In this time, most parts of the communications are served for the communication between human being and Gods and the horizontal commumication is not so developed. And we find that there are primitive pursuit for beauty and some basically editorial standards in the editorial activities. The excavation of "Xike" also proved the existence of the editorial activities in Shang Dynasty.2.The paper holds that the editorial activities, in the Bamboo and Wooden Slip Period, tend to become more active and give most of their attention to the King's activity and political affairs. The paper also inspected the lose of editor's subjectivity and editors' unperfect personality, the system of collecting folk songs, KongFuzi's editorial activities, the background of editorial activities' trendency to bottom people, etc.3. The paper inspected the editorial activities after the creation of paper, including the creation of paper and its attribution to the editorial activity, the translation of Buddhist sutra, the economic elements in the editorial activity, the full play of editors'subjectivity, etc.4. Some conclusions. The paper holds that editors have high status in ancient China and most editorial activities become one part of political affairs of the ruling class; that editors only have some limited rights in ancient China; editors' personality is not independent on the whole and they always become the governors' culturally ruling tool consciouslly or unconsciouslly; that ancient Chinese editors always struggle in political/ cultural dilemma; that there is a few economic exercises in editorial activities.Part Two: 1. It is believed by the paper that editorial activity is a creative hold of reality, a recreation of things, a re-explanation of meaning; that editors are not only the creators of sign, form and beauty, but the creators of meaning, value and ideology. Contextization and different building are the concentrated embody of editors' subjective initiative, meanwhile, the main reasons of editors' abusing their power. For their attenching themselves to politic affairs and their failure for indepedence, ancient Chinese editors' power of discourse is always "stolen" by rulers. For modern editorial activity, the main problem is how to prevent editors from abusing their power and the solution is to augment "dialogue".2. It is held by the paper that in the course of building media, editors are always limited by themselves, media organization, audience, social enviroment, existed com-municational structure,etc, and all of these belong to the editorial enviroment. Editor and audience are two subjects in the communication. Media plays its role in the "inter-subjectivity". The limitations from society, phycology and working enviroment give rise to the lose of editors' rights and the innormal development of culture, so the crux of effective editorial activity and communication is to hold editors' subjectivity high, to fully arouse editors' enthusiasm.3. The paper holds that the reason of light color in ancient China's editorial activities is ancient China scholars' traditionally cultural idea, backward in ancient society, unindependent culture. Modern economic activity is doing an injury to editorial affair. Editors build the media culture, meanwhile, they are alienated by this culture. Editorial activities should pursuit sound profits, but we must keep it... |
