Domestic telecom carriers and service providers face large amouts of chances and challenges. In telecommunication industy, the Operation Support System (OSS) , oriented by single operation , can't arrive at competition requirement in case of much new operation. Now it has been urgent assairs to redesign OSS.Form data of international software manufactuers, it becomes a new tideway in design of large-scale software that the enterprise application is divided into user interface, bussiness logic and back-end service which construct an whole appliction server. In this way, the enterprise application can be configured and extended easily. As Internet support platform , the OSS needs to be redesigned by using the application server technology, in order to support flexible expense policy and new various operation. The aim of this research is to analyze advanced characteristics of application server and to design an integrated operation support system of million-user capability.There are six chapters in the paper. The fourth chapter is the most important. . in which the appliction server design is described in detail.The first chapter is about the concept of application server, theAbstractdevelopment of telecom operation support system and the need of its redesign.In the second chapter, the principles of application server is analyzed. The model and logic architecture, Object-Oriented, component technology, data connection, communiction mechanism, client connection, Web connection and security technology is explain briefly.In the third chapter, the requirement of telecom operation system is described. From the point of view of business requirement, the operation model and system architecture is analyzed and the function and performance guidelines are given.In the fourth chapter, the design of the application server for telecom operation manage is discussed in detail. The component model, communication mechanism, data connection and information release is emphasized. The information release in enterprise is solved by the blue print of the application server using RMI. The communiction among system is provided by the data bus based on CORBA and the loose-coupling relationship is bulit by the news service. In the system, data is expressed in the unified format in order to support various telecom operation and new operation is generated in the system by a group of visual tools.Experiment of measure is described in the fifth chapter. The result of experiment is given to show the function and performance of this system.End of this paper is summary. Some improvement was given further.
