| XML provides a set of standard methods to describe, acquire, deal with and publishes information. It has brought revolutionary influence to the whole network. However, XML is still in developing and present middle-ware technology can' t successfully separate content and display, which makes XML-based systems difficult to implement and manage, hard to show advantages of XML. Distributed Object Technology stemmed in 1990' s. It plays an important role in the integration of enterprise resources, the management of distributed system and the technology of software components. Out of many distributed system standards CORBA can solve the compatibility problems of inter-platform, and so on, then integrate distributed software well so it is the best technology to combine distributed technology and WWW. Using CORBA in XML systems will combine well strong transport capability of CORBA and agility of XML, then make the systems easier to manage, easier to extend, easier to maintain and easier to implement and so provide greater function.XML Wrapper is an XML/CORBA-based Web application system developed by us. It integrates data of different sources into XML data, appends a XML layout between users and data sources and responds users through parsing of XML documents. This system reflects well the advantage of XML data that their contents and forms are separated. This advantage has facilitated greatly data exchanging and publishing in distributed applications involving lots of data like Electronic Business applications.According to the design and implementation of XML Wrapper, this paper discusses problems of XML-based Web applications and gives our CORBA-based solution. This paper also illustrates that Web applications using XML/CORBA is easy to develop and easy to use. This paper will impel the research of XML/CORBA-based Web applications. |
