The automatic detection of microcomputer-based hardware is a project that the researchers, developers and producers have long been paying attention to and engaged in. This thesis mainly deals with the CPU mainboard of microcomputer-based protective devices. In the previous methods of hardware detection, the communication between the detection devices and the board to be detested is performed mainly through serial interface, and the detection speed and precision can't meet the requirements. Neither can they conduct the thoroughly automatic detection of analog circuit.CAN is a kind of field-bus technology with high transmission speed, high security and low cost, which is widely accredited and applied in power industry. The application of CAN field-bus technology in the automatic detection of hardware takes full advantage of resource of the detested-to-be board and ensures the speed and precision of detection.This thesis mainly includes:1. In-depth research of the new CPU mainboard of Sifang Company(CPU mainboard of CSI200E device), comparison of several different design schemes and proposal of an automatic detection scheme based on CAN field-bus technology.2. Detailed research of the relevant technical data and criteria of CAN field-bus, design of the interface schemes between the respective CAN modules of the detection devices and feasibility analysis of the application of CAN in the automatic detection.3. Design of the detection board and the relevant software in reference of the CPU mainboard of CSI200E, where the main functions of the whole set of detection system are performed by the detection board, and the design ideas and the main applied components of the detection board are basically the same as those of the detected-to-be board.4. Design of the background detection database system with the bar code technology, which can deal with and manage the medium data and the ultimate results.The automatic detection system consists of 3 layers: the first layer is the detected-to-be board; the second is the detection board; the third, background PC computer. In this thesis, the former two layers are integrated into the foreground part in that both the detection board and the detected-to-be board are plugged in the same computer box in a plug-in manner. The detection of the functions of the detected-to-be board is mainly conducted in the foreground part.
