Research On The Technology To Serve Smes Based On The Web

The rapidly developing Sci-Tech and the increasingly intense competition have made the Small and Middle Enterprise (SMEs), which play important part in the national economy, face the more and more serious challenges. It becomes an important subject to research how to procede the information reconstrction for an enterprise, improve the product's development procedures, speed and quality.This paper studies Application Service Provider (ASP) and concerned technologies. The application of ASP in enterprises is researched. The results will be helpful to SMEs in manufacturing industry.The main points of this paper are as following:1. The concept and features of ASP are researched. It is pointed out that to develop Chinese ASP, the target users should be SMEs. ASP must be specialized and put all kinds software such as CAD, CAE, CAPP, CAM software in Internet Data Center (IDC) for enterprises to use remotely as well as providing special service about mechanical manufacturing.2. The concept of common part library and the roots of similar part family are set forth and retrieval system is developed. The strategies of derivation of parts from the roots of similar part family are also provided, i.e. by the use of either features and solid entities retrieved form the part library or CAD software, parts can be modified as required. The retrieval system developed in the paper has friendly interactive interface.3. A structure and supporting tools of ASP are presented and some technical problems of providing services for SME with network are discussed. Visual FoxPro is used the as DBMS of part library and Visual InterDev is used to setup the ASP website-Partlab in the paper. Active Server Page technology is applied to visit web database. A prototype ofASP service center is put forward for users.All the results of the paper have given good contribution to the theory of ASP. They will be much helpful to the application of ASP to the enterprises in Cina.
