The human management becomes scientific and institutionalized that makes management more rational. At this stage, most of the university management focuses on rational management which is institutionalized and standard. Generally this kind of management is macro systematical guidance. It is easy to overlook the existence of personality and concerns of irrational factors such as the desire, emotion, will and faith. With the concept of scientific development and people-oriented guiding ideas proposed, the rational management has been emphasized. At the same time, irrational factors play a role on the basis of rational management. College management is managing people and the management of people. As people is the unity of rationality and irrationality, in the process of college management, research to irrational factors such as human desires, emotions, will, beliefs etc. can help to improve the efficiency of management. To the author's point of view, the rationality and irrationality is the mutual penetration of mutual restraint, and irrational factors are not unscientific or unreasonable. This article is under the guidance of reason, combined with the process of university management and put forward ways to optimize people's irrational factors.The introduction points out issue causes, research status and methods in and out of china. The first part is an overview of irrational factors. It defines irrationality and points out the meanings of some irrational factors, such as desire, emotion, will and belief. It also analyzes irrational factors of its non-consciousness, non-logic, impulsivity, potentiality, creativity and other characteristics, followed by analysis of relationship among desire, emotion, will, faith and management. The second part analyzes the necessity of paying attention to the irrational factors in college management. First, it adapts to the development trends of scientific management of modern education. Second, on the basis of irrationality human possess, paying attention to the irrational factors is the need of human spirit. Third, in the process of college management, there is lack of humanity in the management process and lack of democracy in management, so it is necessary to pay attention to irrational factors. The third part analyzes mechanism of irrational factors in college management. In the process of college management, the irrational factors play different role in each link of the management process. In the process of college management, desire is the targeting mechanism; emotion is the selection mechanism; will is the strengthen mechanisms for motivation and in the innovation of college management belief is the exceed protection mechanism. The fourth part points out ways to optimize irrational factors in the process of college management. First, decision-making platform should be founded to make decision-making process open and democratic. Second, harmonious atmosphere should be created through guiding of media model, equal status defining of supervisor and the supervised and clear communication channel. Finally, evaluation system should be constructed, via the establishment of scientific evaluation criteria, emphasizing the internal experience of evaluation and focus on spiritual rewards to optimize people's irrational factors. In the conclusion, the article points out that people should be aware of the important role of irrational factors and make full use of it in the process of college management.
