Abstract/Summary:
Yangsi Middle School in Taixing, Jiangsu Province is a successful example of an inferior school in rural area transforming into a famous one known to the whole country. As the old saying goes, adversity leads to prosperity, or we can say poverty gives rise to the desire for change. The core of Yangsi's change is its classroom teaching reform. In the reforming process, Yangsi sets up the duty contract mangement system, advocates the management idea that every student can be taught well, creates such teaching mode as teaching after learning and training in the class, implements the teaching quality management system that requires checking teaching proceeds in every class, everyday, every week. All this has made the school a 100 percent enrollment rate, consolidation rate, graduation rate and qualification rate, thus its excellence rate topping the list in Taixing City. The outstanding achievements of Yangsi Middle School has appealled lots of colleagues to visit and learn. It appears an upsurge in learning experience from Yangsi all over China.By using the literature method, The paper collects some materials concerning the classroom teaching management of Yangsi Middle School and describes its specific reform practice. The author studies the teachers' personal understanding of class teaching management of Yangsi Middle School after interviewing some teachers who have been to Yangsi School. The author also interpretes the Yangsi Phenomena and unearths its successful experience with the case study. The paper attempts, both theoretically and practically, to offer some ideas for the reform of inferior schools in rural areas as well as some reference advices for classroom teaching reform.Based on the analysis of Yangsi phenomenon, the paper follows human-oriented and benefit principle to analyze in a deeper degree. According to human-oriented principle, the students are the subjects of the teaching reform, that is to say, the reform should be student-oriented. The basic strategy is making the teachers and students join in the class actively with its final objective to promote their development. As for the benefit, the school teaching management follows the benefit principle, insisting on quantity and quality unification as well as most output with least input. The basic approaches to effective class teaching are relieving students'burden after class, developing student resources and carrying out school-based exercises. The basic requirements are careful preparation before class, optimization of teaching proceedings during class and learning enhancement and consolidation after class.The classroom teaching reform of Yangsi demonstrates that exploiting and innovating is the base of reforming classroom teaching, human-orientation is the key to improve classroom teaching, tapping potentials and increasing efficiency are the conditions of the classroom teaching reform.
