Focusing on the human beings is the core idea of reformed curriculums, which means that all that the education gives is for the development of students. In certain senses, we can say that students are developing in the process of being educated. Gender is the most important characteristic of the nature and society, therefore, the education must shoulder the unavoidable responsibility to pay certain attention to the development of it. However, some researches show that the gender education has been neglected in our contemporary educational field, which contradicts the primary goal of our education and is harmful for the all-round but personal development of students.The course Chinese plays a significant role in the process of the formation of belief and value because of its humanism, thus, the end goal of Chinese-teaching is to promote the development of students and complete construction. The rich and important culture of gender in the Chinese teaching materials exerts a significant influence on the students'awareness of gender. The theoretical foundations are explained in the first chapter of this thesis: the theory of feminist education, social researches and humanistic psychology. In the second chapter, the gender roles shown in the reformed teaching materials published by the PEP have been analyzed and researched from the perspectives of family life and social life. However, the research found that there are some flaws in the gender roles in this reformed version of teaching materials, of which is the out-of-date gender concepts: the contradiction of male and female, inharmonious family relationship, gender discrimination, and so on. And all these concepts haven't set positive example for the students in family and social life. The third chapter analyzes the negative influences of the old gender concepts on the students and furthermore, it suggests that the education should set good examples of gender roles for the students, which are quite different from the traditional concepts. In the forth chapter, this thesis centers round how to cultivate the students'healthy gender awareness and gives typical cases at the same time. The thesis points out that under such situation, the Chinese teachers should improve their abilities of reorganization, analysis, criticism and restriction, and use the teaching materials flexibly, so as to reduce the negative effects on the students to the minimum. The Chinese teachers must shoulder the responsibility to help the students develop healthily in both family life and social life, which will be helpful for their future.
