Currently, there are many problems exist in our university, such as heavy scientific research and light teaching,siding of the quality of the undergraduate education, the deficient of the vigor of the whole higher education as well as the dropping of the internal cohesive force in university. Having influenced the vigor and the diverse development of our higher education seriously. The key of these problems lies in the narrow idea of the understanding of academic and the low status of the university teaching, or in other words, in the non-academic existence of university teaching. Based on this, we advocate the scholarship of teaching, and encourage the teachers to be engaged in the teaching research, this have very vital significance to the development of our higher education.In fact, university teaching can be seen as a kind of academic career, as an academic, and simultaneously as a new view of university teaching. The university teaching can become an academic, not only because the demand of reforming of the philosophy view, but also the request of the own practices in the university teaching. Presently, as the lack of external academic organization systems about university teaching, such as the research of teaching is not taken importantly, the few of researching facilities of university teaching, lacking the consummation appraisal system of university teaching, and then the university teaching not looks like an academic exist. In view of these reasons, and unifying the practice problems in our university teaching, we should expanse the connotation of academic, developing the academic of teaching vigorously, promoting the status of university teaching, and solve the problem of heaving scientific research and light teaching finally, and promote the quality of the undergraduate education, enhance the internal cohesive force of university, in order to promote the diversity development of higher education positively, making the higher education maintain its vigor. The concrete ways including: strengthen the education of the university teachers (education before the duty and training on-the-job); establish the multi-dimensional appraisal system of teachers; keep the space for the development of the scholarship of teaching; strengthen the teachers'research of university teaching, develops the theory in university teaching, and so on.
