It has been eight years since the comprehensive learning of Chinese was put forth in the new course and the new mode of curriculum and teaching was practiced actively in experimental areas. It is taken for granted that the new approach has really made surprising achievements. However, it is worthwhile for people involved in Chinese teaching to pay special attention to the problems it brings about at the same time.Combining the present experimental situation of the comprehensive learning of Chinese applied in Chinese teaching in junior high school of Ordos High School One with references in other experimental areas, the author points out some existing weak points in practice such as formalism,the nature-lost of Chinese teaching. As far as the author is concerned, one of the solutions to these problems is to look for the specific implementation procedure of the comprehensive study approach of Chinese teaching.The study of implementation methods and procedure should start from the study of the nature and function of this approach. Based on some opinions of experts and scholars on this issue, the author drew the conclusion that comprehensive learning of Chinese should be Chinese teaching in nature, and it should also be comprehensive, practical, independent, extensive and universal and that Chinese knowledge should be the basic quality of the students. Furthermore, the author put forth the following four designed procedures to achieve these goals: to prepare the questions in advance, to meet the new questions from the students, to elicit the students to find answers and to evaluate the answers from the students. A comparative successful example was given after this.The research paper consists of four parts as follows:Part I points out the existing problems during the implementation process based on the investigation, discussion and analysis of the present situation of implementation of comprehensive learning of Chinese. Part II tries to discuss the nature and function of the comprehensive learning of Chinese, especially its basic function and find out the theoretical evidence to the existing problems. Part III expounds the designed procedures for implementation of the comprehensive learning of Chinese in details after the discussion about it. Part IV manifests the function of designing procedures for implementation of the comprehensive learning of Chinese with a successful example and analysis.
