| Existing competency researches showed that competency can effectively predict career success. However, relevant researches are concentrated in the subject of management, very lack of the subject of teachers especially preschool teachers. Competency research is valuable to teacher evaluation and professional development. But existing competency research about kindergarten teachers is confined to personal experience and theoretical level; vary lack of the empirical research.After behavioral event interview, the content is coded by the approach based on data-driven. The result of coders'reliability is good enough to ensure the consistency between different coders. 51 competencies are developed and used in the next research of questionnaire survey. T-test and factor analysis are used to process the data. Combine two work, the main conclusions are as follows:1. The competency structure of preschool teacher is a structure of 6-43 competent characteristics. For more specific, factor 1, style of performance: passion, tolerance, integrity, carefully, patience, humility, accountability, respect for others, love; factor 2, professional knowledge and skills: education and teaching skills, analytical thinking, reflection, planning, expertise, guidance capability, creativity, flexibility, adaptability, organization and management capacity, observation; factor 3, self-image: self-motivation, self-control, self-regulation, self-assessment, self-confidence, self-esteem; factor 4, the pursuit of excellence: challenges and support, motivation to enhance, diligently studying, learning, teamwork, the sense of efficiency; factor 5, achievements capacity: decision-making ability, make the best use of talents, strategic, migration, critical thinking; factor 6, communication and exchanges: relations coordination, independent views, sense of service, communication skills, understanding of others, emotional perceived ability.2. Excellent preschool teachers have no significant difference in the style of performance when compares with generals. But these two groups exist significant differences in professional knowledge and skill, self-image, the pursuit of excellence, leadership, communication exchanges.3. The competency structure of excellent preschool teacher is a structure of 5-34 competent characteristics. These five factors are: professional knowledge and skills, self-image, the pursuit of excellence, achievements capacity, communication and exchanges. |
