At present,because of the influence of education depending on numbers of tests and exams on our country's elementary education,the spoon-feeding teaching methods universally exist,and consequently it's very difficult for the students to have their free choices.Many teachers of English attempt to implement Group Cooperative Learning (GCL) in the classroom to change this situation.However,due to various reasons,the efficiency of such learning mode is low.According to her own.teaching experience,the present researcher believes that GCL has quite a few advantages over traditional teaching. In this study,she tries to solve the low efficiency problem in GCL through her own classroom teaching.This research,through experimental method,takes GCL as the fundamental mode.It treats English learning as a dynamic process,and group achievements as the criterion for assessment.It is hoped that this way of classroom teaching could maximize the students' access to knowledge,and at the same time,fully develop each student's quality and ability.The findings show that the implementation of GCL can help students learn English better,in ways of enhancing their inter-relationships,improve their academic achievements and boost their interest in learning English as well.The research results give us the following suggestions:1) Teachers must further strengthen the students' GCL in English classroom,consummate the GCL strategies in the classroom,and give more help to students with weaker cooperation consciousness;2) With the enhanced awareness of the students' cooperation,teachers' quality also needs upgrading so that they can design and implement strategies to extend classroom GCL into extra-curricular learning Only in this way can we promote the teaching and learning of English through GCL,so that students can have life-long learning ability to challenge the future. |
