The piano is an indispensible basic course for college students majoring in music and this important status has also decided that research on the piano has become one hot research target for domestic and overseas scholars. Through an overview of domestic and overseas research on piano study, we may easily find that most research on piano study is on how to improve the playing techniques of the piano, while research from the psychological angle is little. Therefore, this paper explores the impact of peer relations on the emotions of piano learners from a new angle, educational psychology.Peer relations play a crucial role in the interpersonal communication of college students. For them, with the start of college life and increasingly few chances of spending time with their parents, the impact of family is weakening while the importance of peer communication has markedly increased and the influence of peers has strengthened. Pecron’s theory of academic emotions has indicated that interpersonal communication is an important factor that influences academic emotions. Based on that, this paper explores whether there is a connection between peer relations and academic emotions and whether peer relations can anticipate academic emotions. This paper analyzes data on the peer relations and academic emotions of piano majors at the School of Music, and based on that, explores the relationship between piano learners’ peer relations and their academic emotions and the influence of peer relations on academic emotions. The research concludes that the peer relations and academic emotions of piano learners are relevant and peer relations have a negative correlation with negative academic emotions and obvious anticipatory effect on negative academic emotions.
