Since the beginning of this century, individualized instruction, a teaching method based on the students'individual characteristics, has become a hot topic in the world. More and more people are paying attention on this teaching method. Though there are already lots of constructive explores on how to carry out individualized instruction in class, yet there are still many deficiencies in terms of teaching concept and strategies. Individualized Instruction Plan in Chinese Reading and Writing Teaching in High School is such a teaching plan, which follows the individualized instruction concept and Chinese teaching principle. This paper focuses on how to practically plan the teaching process, general structure, detailed steps and anticipated result aiming at certain students and teaching materials, fulfilling a given teaching purpose and requirement.This paper introduces three parts in this study:Part I: to explain what individualized instruction in Chinese reading and writing is. It explains that individualized instruction teaching plan tries to build a bridge linking the class-based teaching and individualized teaching in a microscopically perspective, which could scientifically use the strengths of individualized instruction to change the situation that different individual characteristics would always be ignored in class-based teaching. It provides a practical and improved model in Chinese teaching, paying more attention to students'different characteristics to help them develop the independent study skill on Chinese reading and writing. Carried out in class-based environment, this method focuses more on teaching students in accordance of their aptitudes.Part II: to figure out the necessity of individualized instruction in Chinese reading and writing teaching in high schools from different perspectives, including the conflict between the class-based teaching and individualized instruction, the feasibility of individualized instruction in Chinese teaching in high schools and the significances of applying for such a teaching method. And the significances of it are as follows: it makes up the shortcomings the class-based teaching method; it helps the over-all development of students; it provides a new profession promotion way for teachers.Part III: to give five practical ways of individualized instruction plan based on the theory of individualized instruction and constructive learning. (1) To know the need of students from various ways. (2) To construct a model of individualized instruction in class-based teaching methods. (3) To explore teaching methods suitable to individualized reading and writing instructions. (4) To build an open and periodic system in individualized reading and writing instructions. (5) To analyze the quality during the teaching process. In summary, this paper is based on and absorbs the strengths of the present studies. It shows the significance of the individualized instruction, and suggests that teachers should apply this theory for Chinese teaching in accordance to different students'characteristics. The purpose of this paper is to explore a practical way of individualized instruction theory.
