This thesis is intended to draw the essence of Tao Xingzhi's creative educational thoughts to boost the current reform and development of basic education.The key to the current reform of bacic education is to convert teachers' teaching concepts and methods as well as students' learning methods. In classroom teaching, teachers should guide students to adopt new learning methods, like autonomous learning, cooperative learning, enquiry learning, etc. in order to enhance students' development on a harmonious, balanced and individual basis, to change the status quo of the instruction of traditional curriculum which lays too much emphasis on receptive learning and rote learning and to cultivate students' ability of autonomous learning so that talents with creative thinking and ability can be fostered. The author of this thesis aims to get enlightened from Tao Xingzhi's creative educational thoughts in order to hep change the traditional teaching mode, make the school education develop in a diverse way, break the exam-oriented teaching mode and enable the school to produce the talents who are wholesome, morally good and useful to the society.This thesis mainly adopts the reasearch method of documentation in verifying the reference and instructive meaning of Tao Xingzhi's creative educational thoughts to the current reform of basic education.The findings of this thesis are presented in the form of theoretical paper. It concludes that Tao Xingzhi's creative educational thoughts and practices have practical implications to both the current reform and development of basic education and the reform of new curriculum.
